The magical treatise made it all clear: we were to take from the cabinet five specific objects.

These would identify themselves, announce themselves, through our feeling of them. Not physical touch, but more of an intuitive in-feeling that made them seem to flash a recognition.

Once found, the five objects are to be taken to the ground of worship. There might be a circle of trees in the woods. The five objects are taken there. There might be an altar at the seashore – take them there. Whatever the sacred place may be, the five objects are taken to that place.

How they are transported: the five objects are each wrapped in a cloth, and tied with string or ribbon of some sort. They are placed together in a basket or carrier. If they are too large to be taken together, they are each placed in a box or bag and carried one at a time to the sacred location.

Timing for the ceremony: there are many times during the day and night that the sacred ceremony may be performed. Sunrise, moonrise, midday, 4 PM, 4 AM, depending on the season, the weather, location, and purpose.

There can be an opening of the objects, a ritual procession with the objects – wrapped means one thing, open means another. The timing of the opening is also important. Before the procession, after the procession, at the location. In some cases the objects remain wrapped throughout. Some seasonal ceremonies unwrap only one, or open one in spring, one in summer and so forth, with one remaining wrapped at all times, or being opened to signal the new year.

The objects are made more sacred and meaningfully charged with each ritual use. The secret second is fully present and in some cases completely visible. There is a profound energetic flash when the second appears. One might think the High Point is the unwrapping, but that is a demonstration or symbol of what happens when the secret second appears.

That is the way we discover the power of life. When the secret second flashes into existence or into this manifest world, it is an opening to the other side, there is a flow of energies that feels like a divine force. So we prepare ourselves to experience this by fasting, prayer, meditation and other exercises and practices. The chakras are kept open and clear, ready for activation in that rarefied vibration which is ineffable. The mind and heart must be made ready to receive this opening, should it occur. If not, it doesn’t always kick in, it stalls or remains only a beautiful ceremony, not a powerful transformational world-gift.

It is the beholder who completes the circuit – the second appears not because the object has been infused with power, or sacred manifestation spells. It appears because you are ready to see and know it, and it is, actually, a part of your self in the ground sense of self and all. Each claim of each object’s secret second is a reclamation of some aspect that have been lost, or that retreated from humanity’s immaturity.
